About IFS
Intensive First-Year Seminars (IFS), formerly known as Intensive Freshman Seminars, is a leading transition-to-college program that has supported incoming first-year students in acclimating to life at Indiana University since 1990. IFS students move into their dorms on campus early. The program takes place right before the fall semester begins and offers 3-credit hour seminar-style courses to first-year students. These courses assist in meeting a variety of academic requirements. Our renowned faculty and peer mentors create coursework, programming, and community events designed to help new students of all backgrounds attune, adjust, and thrive at IU Bloomington.
