This course helps new university students understand and adapt to the diverse and cooperative college society, with a focus on cultural identity. It aims to educate students about different cultures, cultural identities, and cultural stereotypes, and prepare them for university life. Through exposure to real-life scenarios from the culture of the Middle East, critical and analytical readings, videos, seminars, and presentations, students will learn how to interact and cooperate with people from different cultural backgrounds, appreciate cultural diversity, and engage in dialogue and discussion in an atmosphere of academic freedom. The course emphasizes the importance of cultural identity and helps students make a safe transition to university life as they become a part of the college society that values diversity and cooperation.
This course is eligible for honors credit through the Hutton Honors College.
